Jena High 1984 graduate Darlene (Burlock) Davis and her family present a copy of “The Secret is Out: Cord Blood Stem Cells” book to JHS Librarian Charlene Ranton and Principal Glen Joiner. Darlene’s husband, Joseph K. Davis, wrote the book about their son’s life-threatening battle and miraculous cure from sickle cell anemia using his brother’s umbilical cord blood. Joseph, Darlene and their sons, Joseph K. Davis II (left) and Isaac Davis, reside in Cedar Hill, Texas near Dallas.

Darlene Burlock Davis, a 1984 graduate of Jena High School, recently paid a visit to her alma mater to donate a book and promote a cause close to her heart. Darlene’s husband, Joseph K. Davis, wrote “The Secret is Out: Cord Blood Stem Cells” about their son’s life-threatening battle and miraculous cure from sickle cell anemia using his brother’s umbilical cord blood. The book sheds light on Cord Blood stem cells and how those same cells completely cured their child of an incurable disease with no residual side effects.
