Jena Lady Giants open district play with 2 wins

The Jena Lady Giant’s softball team started district play this past week. The Lady Giants come into this year with high hopes after the successful season they had last year in which they earned the 8 seed in the class 3A playoffs and made it to the second round. The Lady Giants return almost all of the same players and they add a very good freshmen class that looks to step in and contribute right away. The Lady Giants traveled to Avoyelles parish to take on the Avoyelles Lady Mustangs in the district opener for both teams. Junior pitcher Darian Thacker started the game for the Lady Giants and pitched very well.
