Olan Oliver Poole, 77, a Jena businessman for many years, passed from this life on Monday, September 23, 2013, at the Jena Nursing and Rehab Center in Jena. He was born March 3, 1936 in Jonesville to the union of his parents, Welby Jackson and Gholda May Randall Poole. Olan owned and operated Poole’s Auto Salvage in East Jena for many years. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. Services were held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 25, at Cornerstone Pentecostal Church in the Aimoch Community with the Revs. David Poole and Dan McClure officiating. Interment followed in the Randall Cemetery under direction of Hixson Brothers Funeral Home of Jena. He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Aaron Poole, Dan Poole and Joel Poole. Survivors include his loving wife of 57 years, Mildred Morehead Poole of Jena; his daughter, Sylvia Faye Poole Norris and husband Steve of Jena; his son, Steve David Poole and and wife Sherrie of Jena; four sisters, Loretta Ashley and Juanice Poole, both of Aimoch, Weda Andrews and Theda McClure, both of Aimwell; two brothers, Randy Poole of Arkansas and Norris Poole of Winnsboro; 5 grandsons, Allan Poole, J. Welby Poole, Justin Norris, Ross Norris and Wes Norris and ten great-grandchildren, all of Jena. Pallbearers were grandsons, Allan, Welby, Justin, Ross, Wes and great-grandson, Kade Poole. Honorary pallbearers were Darryll Thaxton and Lum Myles. Memorials may be made in Olan Poole’s memory to the Cornerstone Pentecostal Church, 354 Hwy 503, Olla, LA 71465.
