Reba Ganey Brooks, 84, of Belah, was received into Heaven on Wednesday, September 25, 2013, with family by her side. She was born July 17, 1929 in the Little Creek Community to the union of her parents, Isaac Mode Ganey and Nona Davidson Ganey. Reba was a registered nurse that worked many years. Her working career included nursing at the old Jena Hospital, LaSalle General Hospital, Hardtner Medical Center, and Glenwood Regional Medical Center in West Monroe. Her many interests included traveling, sewing, playing cards, and quilting with very dear friends. A memorial service celebrating her life was held at 2 p.m., Friday, Sept. 27, in the chapel of Hixson Brothers Funeral Home of Jena. Interment followed at the Belah Cemetery in the Belah-Fellowship Community under direction of Hixson Brothers Funeral Home of Jena. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Joseph D. Brooks; and all her siblings. Survivors include her daughter, Nina Brooks Ferracci and husband Jeff of Monroe; her son, Doyle Brooks and wife Rebecca of Monroe; five grandchildren, Joseph Russell “Joey” Brooks of Mobile, AL, Chelsie Ferracci and fiancé Patrick Summerville of Monroe, Lindsey Webster and husband Jonathan of Monroe, Joshua Navarro and Jeremy Navarro, both of Atlanta, GA; and great grandson, Joseph Doyle “Jody” Brooks. Honorary pallbearers were “The Quilting Grannies” – Joy Bradford, Jewel Price, Christine Francis, Mary Valentine, Margaret Adkins, Pat Peterman, Hazel Coon, Selena Stephens, and Sharon Robertson.
