Kenneth Ray “Katfish” McCartney, 66, of the Trinity Community near Jonesville, passed from this life on Sunday, November 23, 2013, after suffering a heart attack. He was born June 7, 1947 in Trout to the union of his parents, James Nelson McCartney and Frances Elizabeth Hemphill McCartney. Kenneth was a veteran of the U.S. Army. His service in Vietnam was forgotten by the country he loved, yet his pride and love of this great country
was never in question. He loved fishing, gardening, computers, and people in general. He never met a stranger. Katfish was an unforgettable character with a heart of gold. He left each of his survivors with many memories that will always be treasured. Memorial services were  held on Wednesday, November 26, on the bank of the Ouachita River. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, James Allen McCartney; and an infant son, Brady Keith McCartney. Survivors include his wife, Cheryl Ann McCartney of the Trinity Community; children, Cynthia Ann Ducote, Debra Elaine Gillen, Bradley Ray McCartney, Kimberly Dennis Williams, Austin Chad Hulsey, Tamyra Amanda McCartney, and Brandon Chester McCartney; grandchildren, Rachel Elaine Gillen of the U.S. Navy (his Navy Seal), Hulan Leighton Gillen, Zachery Robin Blood, Samantha Elaine Blood, Presley Ann Ducote, Sunny Ray McCartney, Conlee Madison McCartney, Meagan Michelle Corley, Lauren Breanne Corley, Brandon James Corley, Alana Michelle Hulsey, and Nicolette Shalea Fletcher; great grandchildren, Jaycie  and Jayden; and three  brothers, Glen McCartney of Hogeye, Gerald McCartney of Tyler, TX, and Wayne “Snuffy” McCartney of Jena
