Wayne Kennon, 68, of Belah, passed from this life on Tuesday, January 21, 2014, at the Rapides Regional Medical Center in Alexandria. He was born October 2, 1945 in Urania to the union of his parents, Rev. D. B. and Augustine Robertson Kennon. Wayne was a sign painter and was known as a musician and artist. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. Services were held at 2 p.m., Saturday, January 25, in the chapel of Hixson Brothers Funeral Home of Jena with the Revs. Travis Dale Robinson and Cindy Robinson officiating. Interment followed in the Belah Cemetery in the Belah-Fellowship Community under direction of Hixson Brothers, Inc. of Jena. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Elaine Mavis Kennon. Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Grace Robinson of Belah; daughter, Gayle Lynn Kennon of Tomball, TX; son, Christopher Wayne Kennon of Humble, TX; step-son, Randy Gene Verheyden of Lake Charles; sister, Margie Kennon Tovrea of Mesquite, NV; brothers, Tony Lynn Kennon of Houston, TX, Gary Glenn Kennon of Trout, and Elmer Allen Kennon of Montrose, CO; two grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were Christopher Wayne Kennon, Joseph Benard Kennon, Tony Kennon, Gary Kennon, Randy Kennon, and Larry Kennon.
