Jerrel Ray Edwards, 82, of Summerville, passed from this life on Monday, February 3, 2014, at Grace Home in Alexandria. He was born Monday, June 29, 1931 in Jena to the union of Clyde E. Edwards and Ruby Eula Mayes Edwards. Services were held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, Feb. 5, in the chapel of Kinner and Stevens Funeral Home in Jena with Rev. Willie Beaubouef officiating. Interment followed in the Summerville Cemetery under direction of Kinner and Stevens, Inc. of Jena. Mr. Edwards was preceded in death by his parents;  his wife of 60 years, Betty Jo Thornton Edwards; a son, Terry Edwards; four sisters, Mattie Lou “Tincy” Edwards Graham, Cornelia “Sis” Edwards Lincoln, Murl Edwards Sullivan and Shirley Edwards Gibson; and a great granddaughter, Sophia Skye Edwards. Survivors include three sons, Carl Edwards and wife Lynn, Eugene Edwards and wife LaDawn and Lon Edwards and wife Mikey; two daughters, Renae Edwards Grant and husband Todd, and Lynn Edwards Francis; adopted son and daughter, Jerry and Juanita Windham; one sister, Billie Edwards King and husband
Terry; 15 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were Earl Miles and grandsons, Joey Edwards, Justin Edwards, Lonnie Wayne Edwards, Jake Francis, and Jordan Pritchard.
Honorary pallbearers were Shaun Edwards, Stephen Grant, Landon Edwards, Shane Edwards, Gene Long,  Kevin Long, Terry “Bubba”King, Johnnie Long, Morris “Brother” Graham, Leon Graham, Gary Anglin, Donald Anglin, and Mark Windham.
