Luther Parker, 87, of Olla, passed from this life on Wednesday, March 12, 2014. He was born August 31, 1926 to the union of his parents, John and Rosa Parker. Mr. Parker was a veteran of World War II and the Korean War, serving his country in the United States Navy. He was a retired tractor mechanic. Services were held at 10 a.m., Saturday, March 15, in the chapel of Young’s Community Memorial Funeral Home in Winnsboro with the Revs. Jonathan Crist, David McKeithen, and Daryl Floyd officiating. Interment followed in the Harris Cemetery under direction of Young’s Community Funeral Home of Winnsboro. He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, George Parker, Jack Parker, Louis Parker, and Raymond “Flat” Parker; and two sisters, Lillie Mae Parker and Lottie Allen. Survivors include his wife, Mary Reynolds Parker; sons, Luther Clarence Parker and wife Cora of South Hampton, NJ, and Gary Michael Parker and wife Sheila of Olla; daughters, Mary Lynette Parker Lee and husband Knile of Woodville, MS, Theresa Yvonne Parker Ellerbe and husband Ed of Gilbert, and Pamela Sue Parker Emfinger and husband Sidney of Olla; sisters, Inez Buchan and Ella Walker, both of Swampers, LA; 12 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Grandsons served as pallbearers.
