Tessie Maxine Cloessner, 97, of Jonesville, passed from this life on Tuesday, April 22, 2014, in Jonesville. She was born Monday, January 15, 1917 in Wallace Ridge to the union of her parents, John Benjamin and
Marjorie Richardson Dosher. Mrs. Cloessner was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in the Sandy Lake Community. She was known in the community for her cooking abilities, especially her chicken and dumplings and coconut cake. She was one of those rare people who loved to work and she enjoyed growing things in her yard and garden. Services were held at 10 a.m., Thursday, April 24, at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church with the Revs. Craig James and Emile Bordelon officiating. Interment followed in the Heard Cemetery at Manifest under direction of Young’s Funeral Home of Jonesville. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands,
J. H. “Tim” Sikes and Martin E. Cloessner, Sr.; twin brothers, Quincy and Quinon Dosher; two sisters, Aline Serio and Rosalie Wright; three daughters, Margie Aline Sikes, Sue Smith, and Maxine Smith Brown; two sons, Billy Sikes and Elbert Cloessner; and two grandchildren, Teresa Stafford and Kevin Hughes. Survivors include one daughter, Lydia Essmeier and husband Don of Jonesboro; four sons, Doyle Sikes and wife Jean, Kenneth Sikes and wife Brenda, and Eldridge Cloessner, all of Jonesville, and Carl Cloessner and wife Kaye of Winnsboro; son-in-law, Billbo Smith of Jonesville; son-inlaw and caregiver for the past four years, Edward Brown of
Jonesville; 20 grandchildren, 46 great grandchildren, and 20 great great grandchildren. Pallbearers were David Carpenter, Colton Carpenter, Steven Sikes, Christin Sikes, Kent Hughes, Jason Sikes and Jon Sikes. Honorary pallbearers were Micah Hughes and Denny Ray Spinks.
