Mamie Myrtle Simon, 91, of Jonesville, passed from this life on Sunday, May 25, 2014. She was born September 3, 1922 in Jonesville to the union of Laura Renfro Davis and Luther Duncan “Gee” Davis. Services were held at 1 p.m., Tuesday, May 27, at the First Baptist Church in Jonesville with the Revs. Lloyd Trisler and Gary Norris officiating. Interment followed in the Jena Cemetery under direction of Young’s Funeral Home of Jonesville.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, George Dalton Faircloth, Sr. and Hubert Simon; her parents; brothers, John A. Davis, E. R. “Pete” Davis, L. W. “Woodie” Davis, Edward A. “Eddie” Davis and Alton J. “Sambo” Davis; and sisters, Velma Poole Bankston and Marie Blunschi. Survivors include two sons, George D. “Dee” Faircloth and wife Dot, and Robert R. Faircloth and wife Rhonda; grandchildren, Deedee Faircloth Roberts and husband Bob, Libby Faircloth, Erin Faircloth and Rob Faircloth; great grandchildren, Rachel Roberts Knapp and husband Shane, Caity Roberts, Morgan Mulvihill, Drew Mulvihill and Aiden Palmer; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were nephews, Johnny Blunschi, Sam Blunschi, Mike Blunschi, Ricky Blunschi, Paul Blunschi, and Woodie Blunschi
