Thomas “Tinker” Gerald Sanson, 75, of Walters, was received into Heaven on Sunday, August 10, 2014. He was born Sunday, August 28, 1938, in Alexandria, to the union of his parents, David Edward, Sr. and Susan Emmaline Johnson Sanson. Tinker was a retired Baptist minister, also a Free Methodist minister, and was employed by the LaSalle Parish Police Jury for 21 years, retiring as Superintendent. Services were held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Aug. 13, in the Prosperity Baptist Church with Rev. Thomas “Tommy” Sanson, Jr. officiating. Interment followed in the Woodland Cemetery near Jena under direction of Kinner and Stevens Funeral Home of Jena. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister, Bettye C. Sanson Crooks. Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Mandy Dee LaCroix Sanson of Walters; two daughters, Levena Sanson Roark and husband Glenn of Summerville, and Jerry Lynn Sanson of Jena; a son, Tommy Sanson of Jena; two sisters, Velda Joyce Sanson Doughty and husband Larry of Walters, and Janie Mae Sanson Huffman of Walters; one brother, David Sanson, Jr. of Walters; four grandchildren, Jason Roark, Brandy Roark Taylor, Tracey Roark Oakes, and Samantha Sanson; and five great grandchildren. Pallbearers were Jason Baker, Eddie Sanson, Donnie Ray Huffman, Jason Roark, Brad Stevens, and Richard Dubois. Honorary pallbearers were Don Jones, Lonnie Taylor, and Ancil Woodard.
