Johnnie “Glen” Allen

Johnnie “Glen” Allen, 67, of Colfax, passed from this life on Saturday, February 8, 2014, at the Rapides Regional Medical Center in Alexandria. He was born March 25,  1946 at Nebo to the union of his parents, Hugh Hamilton
Allen and Lily Amanda Allen. Glen was a member of the Colfax Baptist Church, a veteran of the United States Army, and retired from the USDA Natural Resource Conservation Service, where he served with an Associate Degree in Science. Glen loved to work outside, gardening, farming, hunting, fishing, crawfishing, playing with grandkids, spending time with his family and friends and church service  and activities. He enjoyed his work as a
soil technician and the interaction he had with farmers and the community. Glen believed in conservation of our resources and loved sharing his knowledge. He truck  farmed for a period of time and always grew and gave

Kathryn Doughty Breithaupt

Kathryn Doughty Breithaupt, 86, of Alexandria, passed away Thursday, February 6, 2014, at Grace Home in Alexandria at Christus St. Frances Cabrini Hospital. She was born February 17, 1927 in Jena to the union of her parents, Luther Ray “Pete” and Gertrude Summerlin Doughty. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church since 1959, a graduate of NSU in Natchitoches, and a retired teacher having taught in Jena and at Brame Junior High School and also at Pinecrest State School. She was a member of Pinecrest Parents Association and Alpha Delta Kappa Honorary Society. Services were held at 2 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 9, in the chapel of Hixson Brothers

Tammy Diane McPherson

Tammy Diane McPherson, 45, of Rhinehart, passed from this life on Sunday, February 2, 2014, at her residence. She was born July 27, 1968 in Jena to the union of  her parents, Clifford and Mavis Courmier Sharp. Tammy was a homemaker, an amazing mom and enjoyed music. Services were held at 10  a.m., Friday, Feb. 7, in thechapel of Hixson Brothers Funeral  Home of Jena with Rev. Mike Russell officiating. Interment followed in

Chad Wayne Parkhill

Chad Wayne Parkhill, 40, formerly of Jena, passed from this life on Tuesday, January 28, 2014. He had resided in Dumagutt, Phillippines for the past five years. A memorial service is planned for 11 a.m., Wednesday, February 19, 2014, at the Nebo Baptist Church with the Rev. Gary Norris and Pastor Matthew Murrel officiating. He was preceded in death by his grandparents and one aunt. Survivors include his fiancé, Luvh Mansanas; his mother, Carolyn Parkhill of Jena; his father, Tommy Parkhill of Houma; one sister, Shelly Parkhill Smith, and a niece, Skylar Lane Smith, both of Jena; aunts and uncles, Hank and Glenna Brown of Jena, Larry Skeans of Gainesville, TX, Faye Skeans of Lindsy, TX, Billy Parkhill of Saddler, TX, and June Slayton of Lake Kiowa, TX, and numerous cousins. Charlotte Lynn Sikes

Charlotte Lynn Sikes, 56, of 321 Holton Road in the Chickasaw Community near Olla, passed from this life sometimes between Sunday and Monday, February 2-3. Her body was found by a K-9 Unit from the LaSalle Parish Sheriff’s Office at 8:30 p.m., Monday, February 3, 2014. Charlotte was born March 7, 1957 to the union of Elmer Nelson London, Jr. and Shirley London. She was a homemaker. A memorial service was held at 11 a.m., Saturday, February 8, at the Caldwell Parish Community Center at Columbia. Arrangements were handled by Kinner and  Stevens Funeral Home of Jena. She was preceded in death   by her father; a sister, Patricia London; and a son-in-law, Curtis Holton. Survivors include two daughters, Amber Holton and Kate Sikes, both of Olla; her mother, Shirley London of Olla; one brother, Mark London of Columbia; and five grandchildren, Tyler Holton, Corey Holton, Austin Holton, Cirsten McKeithen, and Tristan Sikes.
