Katherine Jean Franklin Ellerbe

Katherine Jean Franklin Ellerbe, 71, of Columbia, passed from this life on Friday, January 3, 2014, at the Haven Nursing Center in Columbia Heights, following an extended illness. She was born March 22, 1943 in Monroe to the union of her parents, Charlie Bruce and Alice Lucy Wall Franklin. Katherine was a 1961 graduate of Columbia High School and went on to further her education at Northeast Louisiana State University (now University of Louisiana at Monroe), obtaining her degree in accounting. During her senior year at Columbia High School, she was honored to represent Louisiana at the national FBLA spelling bee in Washington, D.C., which she won

Frank W. Kircher

Frank W. Kircher, II, 65, of Jena, passed from this life on Sunday, January 5, 2014, at the Veterans Administration Medical Center, PCU, in Pineville. Frank was an avid gardener and always shared what he grew with family and friends. He loved to fish and cook for everyone who came by to visit him. During his working years, he was employed in the oil fields, offshore boats, Proctor and Gamble, and his last job was janitor at Jena High School.
Frank was a quiet, easy going person who was loved by everyone he met and those he knew. His family and friends will miss him so very much. Services will be at 10 a.m.,  Wednesday, January 8, at the Fellowship Chapel, 506 Hwy 1204, in Ball, with Rev. Ben Waites officiating. Interment will follow in Bethel Cemetery of Colfax under direction of Hixson Brothers Funeral Home of Alexandria. He was preceded in death by his parents, Johnnie L.

Hardy Houston Paul

Hardy Houston Paul, 80, of Nebo, passed from this life on Saturday, January 4, 2014, at the LaSalle Nursing Home of Jena. He was born April 9, 1933 in Nebo to the union of his parents, James Lucious and Ellie Wilson Paul. Mr. Paul was a member of Whitehall United Pentecostal Church of Whitehall for 15 years where he served as Sunday School Superintendent. He was a member of Carrietta Lodge #312, a 3rd Degree Mason, President of the Nebo Recreation District Board of Directors for 30 years, President of the Nebo Water System, a former member of the LaSalle Parish Library Board of Control, coached girls and boys softball and baseball. Mr. Paul proudly served his country in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict. Services were held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, Jan. 7, at the Whitehall United Pentecostal Church with the Revs. J. J. Bourn, D. C. Corson, P.

Albert Ray Randall

Albert Ray Randall, 77, of Olla, passed from this life on Wednesday, January 1, 2014, in Ball. He was born February 4, 1936 in Jonesville to the union of his parents, Charles Luther and Myrtle Ethel Neal Randall. Mr. Randall was a logger by trade and also worked as a truck driver. Services were held at 10 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 4, at New Life Pentecostal Church of Manifest with the Revs. David Poole and Jimmy Thornhill officiating. Interment  followed in the Randall Cemetery of Aimwell under direction of Hixson Brothers Funeral Home of Jena. He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter,  Glenda Jeanette Randall; two sons, Rickey Lynn Randall

Brenda Faye Jarrell

Brenda Faye Jarrell, 57, of Jena, passed from this life on Monday, December 23, 2013, at her residence. Services were held at 10 a.m., Friday, Dec. 27, at Sanctuary Family Worship Center in Jena with Rev. Carl Wayne Doughty officiating. Interment followed in Galilee Cemetery of Evans under direction of Magnolia Funeral Home of Alexandria. She was preceded in death  by her father, Sidney Wallace Jarrell. Survivors include her significant
other, Dan Tullos; three sons, Timothy Jarrell, Billy Davis, and Gary Sons; one daughter, Felicia Gail Bass; numerous grandsons and two granddaughters; step-son, Dan Tullos Jr.; and step-daughter, Lindley Davis; her mother,
Jerri Bass; two sisters and five brothers. Pallbearers were Gary Sons, Christian Sons, Dylan Sons, Peyton Smith, John Bass, and Raymond Humphries
