Rev. Hardy Beaubouef

Rev. Hardy Beaubouef, Sr., 92, of the Magnolia Community south of Jena, was received into Heaven on Tuesday, December 10, 2013. He was born on Thursday, February 10, 1921 in Vick, in Avoyelles Parish, to the union
of William “Bill” Beaubouef and Regina Cole Beaubouef. Shortly after his birth, the family moved to Deville, or more specifically, the Wiley Point Community, which is located about six miles from the Avoyelles Parish line. He went to school at the Wiley Point School, which was a small three-room school that only went to the seventh grade. Bro. Hardy grew up attending the Big Island Baptist Church and was saved when he was 12 years old. He would tell, “I’ve served Jesus for most of my life so that is really all I know to talk about.” He married Mattie Lee “Bobbie” Hickman in 1941, his faithful companion and helpmate. Mitchell Keith Collins

Mitchell Keith Collins, 79, of Jena, passed from this life on Saturday, December 14, 2013, at his residence. He was born Friday, February 2, 1934 in Urania to the union of J. T. and Mae Collins.  Mr. Collins was a member
of Belah United Pentecostal Church. Services were held at 11 a.m., Monday, Dec. 16, in the chapel of Kinner and Stevens Funeral Home in Jena with Rev. David Hutchinson officiating. Interment followed in the  Belah Cemetery under direction of Kinner and Stevens, Inc. of Jena. He was predeceased by his parents; a son, Kevin Collins; and two brothers, Malcolm Collins and Matelyn Collins. Survivors include his wife, Verda Brown Collins of Jena; one son, Keith Collins and wife Charlene of Jena; two daughters, Becky Collins of Jena and Paula Ashworth and husband Ricky of  Belah; sister, Mackie Molan of Tioga; seven grandchildren, Jonathan Collins of

Clara Bell Malcomb

Clara Bell Malcomb, 90, of Grayson, passed from this life on Monday, December 9, 2013, at her home surrounded by her family. She was born February 14, 1923 in Columbia to the union of her parents, J. K. and Lula Petty Newman. Mrs. Malcomb was a loving and caring mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great great grandmother,  as well as a great friend. Services were held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 11, from the sanctuary of Pleasant Grove Church of God of Grayson with Rev. Floyd Duchesne officiating and Rev. Aaron Ricks delivering the eulogy. Interment followed in the Old Bethel Cemetery west of Clarks under direction of Riser Funeral Home of Columbia. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands; five grandchildren; two sisters; three half sisters, and two half brothers. Nelda Roark Nolan, 74, of Jena, passed from this life on Saturday, December 14, 2013, at her residence. She was born Friday, August 25, 1939 to the union of Eddie and Audie Flowers Roark. Mrs. Nolan had a Masters
Degree in Education and worked as a teacher with the LaSalle Parish School Board before her retirement. She was a member of Temple Baptist Church of Jena. Services were held at 2 p.m., Monday, Dec. 16, in the chapel of Kinner and Stevens Funeral Home of Jena with the Revs. Jimmy Keene and Duston McAnn officiating. Interment followed in the Aimoch Cemetery in the Aimoch Community under direction of Kinner and Stevens,

Leslie Lois Breithaupt, 94, of Jena passed from this life on Tuesday, December 3, 2013, at the LaSalle General Hospital of Jena. He was born June 16, 1919, in Archie, to the union of Terry Calhoun and Letha Susannah Walker Breithaupt. Mr. Breithaupt was a veteran of the United States Army and was retired from Louisiana State Central Hospital of Pineville. William Bradford “Brad” Hodges

William Howard “Bill” Edwards, 68, passed from this life on Saturday, December 7, 2013, at Christus St. Frances Cabrini Hospital in Alexandria. Services were held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, Dec. 10, at Pisgah Baptist Church of Manifest with Rev. Ken Hoots officiating. Interment followed in the Heard Cemetery of Manifest under direction of Magnolia Funeral Home of Alexandria. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Corrine and Ocie Edwards of Jena. Survivors include his wife, Linda Ellett Edwards; sons, Will Edwards and wife Stacy, and Brad Edwards and Haley Wright; three grandchildren, Jacob Edwards, Nathan Edwards, and Emily Edwards; one brother-in-law, Otha Thomas Ellett and wife Lea of Irvington, AL; one sister-inlaw, Dorthey Massey of Long Beach, CA; five nephews, four nieces, and sixteen great nieces and nephews.
