Richard T. Sharbono

Richard T. Sharbono, 37, of Olla, passed from this life on Thursday, July 30, 2015, at the Rapides Regional Medical Center in Alexandria. Richard loved fishing, music and swimming. He was a welder and recently completed a semester of college. He loved spending time with his family and friends. Services were held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, August 4, at Olla Pentecostal Church, with Rev.. Lamar Carpenter officiating. Interment followed in the Olla Cemetery, Olla under the direction of Magnolia Funeral Home of Alexandria. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Vivian Ross and Clifford Sharbono, and Mildred and Curtis Brown.

Rev. Willard J. Norris

Rev. Willard J. Norris, 79, of Nebo, passed from this life on Tuesday, July 28, 2015 in Pollock. He was born September 4, 1935 in Rogers to the union of his parents, George B. Norris and Willie Mae Corley Norris. Rev. Norris was saved in 1964 in Houston, Texas. He was a roofer for many years, an avid hunter and a school bus driver for many years for the LaSalle Parish School System. In 1965, he surrendered to the ministry, and served as pastor at Harmony Grove Baptist Church in Winnfield, Victory Baptist Church of Nebo, Bellevue Baptist Church in Jena, Mt. Hermon Baptist Church near Archie, and Bob Baptist Church near Pollock, which he help build and served there for 23-plus years, where he had many friends and felt at home. Services were held at 1 p.m., Thursday, July 30, at Bob Baptist Church with the Revs. Gary Norris, Byron Norris, Todd Norris, and Denver McBroom officiating.

Charles ‘Chuck’ Masoner

Charles “Chuck” Masoner, 87, of Columbia, and a native of Olla, passed from this life on Thursday, July 30, 2015, at the Citizens Medical Center in Columbia Heights. He was born March 1, 1928 in Olla to the union of his parents, Joseph and Dena Randall Masoner. Chuck served his country in the United States Air Force. He retired from Louisiana Power and Light Company (now Entergy) in 1987. He was a Deacon at Columbia Heights Baptist Church, and was a devout Christian and loved serving the Lord. He was a loving father and husband. Services were held at 11 a.m., Saturday, August 1, at Columbia Heights Baptist Church with the Revs. Warren Maxwell and Bruce Mc- Gee officiating. Interment followed in the Welcome Home Cemetery, east of Grayson, under direction of Riser Funeral Home of Columbia. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Louise Masoner Turner; and brother, Henry Masoner.

A memorial service for Sister Earnestine Johnson will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, August 8, 2015, at the New Evergreen Baptist Church, located at 1190 Church Street in Jena. The Community Choir is requested to provide the song service.

Dave ‘Davy’ Green Hebron III

Dave “Davy” Green Hebron, III, 42, of Jena, passed from this life on Tuesday, July 28, 2015 in New Orleans. He was born March 13, 1973 in Alexandria, to the union of Dave, Jr. and Shirley Colleen McKay Hebron. Davy was a graduate of the Class of 1991 at Jena High School where he was a member of the National Honor Society. He received a full scholarship to Northeast Louisiana University. He was a server in the restaurant business. Services were held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, August 4, in the chapel of Kinner and Stevens Funeral Home of Jena with Rev. Billy Edwards, officiating, and Scott Curry doing the eulogy. Burial followed in the Big Creek Cemetery of Pollock, under direction of Kinner and Stevens, Inc. of Jena. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Dave Green, Sr. and Virginia Smith Hebron; maternal grandparents, Elton C. and Nelva Christine Wallace McKay; his beloved, rescued Pit Bull, Kane; sisters-inlaw, Gertrude and Ellie, and brother-in-law, Seamus.

Justin Eugene Farley

Justin Eugene Farley, 35, of Franklinton, and formerly of Jena, passed from this life on Sunday, July 26, 2015. He was born Monday, February 4, 1980 in Shreveport to the union of Raymond Eugene Farley, Jr. and Brenda Susan Crnkovic Farley. Services were held at 10 a.m., Friday, July 31, in the chapel of Kinner and Stevens Funeral Home of Jena. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Gene Farley, Sr. and Rita “Mama Reet” Farley, and maternal grandparents, Fred and Margie Sherrard. Survivors include his mother, Susan Crnkovic Craft and husband Robert of Dubach; father, Gene Farley, Jr. and wife Clovis of Jena; sweetheart, Camela Jones of Franklinton; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Douglas Nelson Hopkins

Douglas Nelson “Hopper” Hopkins, 53, of Stanton, Texas, and a native of LaSalle Parish, went home to be with the Lord on July 24, 2015. The Lord called him home from his favorite place, Ruidoso, New Mexico. He was born August 10, 1961 in Jena to the union of his parents, Carlton Douglas “Dugan” Hopkins and Linda Nelson Hopkins. His family moved to Crane, TX in 1971 where he attended school until his junior year. He then moved to Midland, TX where he graduated from Midland Lee High School in 1979. Doug attended Midland College, Texas Tech University and Angelo State University where he graduated in 1984. His first day there he met his love and wife, Carrie Lynn York. They were married in 1989. Doug worked in the oilfield from age 16, off and on, and was employed by Nova Star, LP, at the time of his death. Doug never met a stranger and had friends throughout the country. He helped anyone in need. He was a devoted and loving husband, dad, son, brother, uncle and friend.
