Rev. Charles Anderson

Rev. Charles W. Anderson, 63, of Jena, passed from this life on Wednesday, October 19, 2016, at Hardtner Medical Center in Urania following a brief illness. He was born October 9, 1953 in Holden, LA. Charlie, as he was affectionately known by family and friends, was a prominent businessman, minister and public servant. He owned and operated a Dry Kiln and Lumber Yard for the past 20 years. Rev. Anderson also served as pastor at Maranatha Fellowship Church (now Lifepoint) for eight years and served as co-pastor for six years. He was a member of the Sanctuary Family Worship Center at the time of his death. Charlie also was a fixture on the LaSalle Parish School Board for the past two decades. He was first elected to the Board in the fall of 1994, and served one 4-year term from 1995-1998, representing District 9.

Donny Gene Sheppard, Sr., 83, of Jena, passed from this life on Sunday, October 16, 2016, at his residence in Jena. Arrangements were incomplete at press time on Monday, but will be handled by Kinner and Stevens Funeral Home of Jena.

Wanda Lynn Fish Stott

Wanda L. Fish Stott, 83, of Olla, passed from this life on Friday, August 12, 2016, at the Hardtner Medical Center in Urania following an extended illness. She was born February 2, 1933 to the union of her parents, James Lansdon Fish and Allena Pearl Dozier Fish. Services were held at 2 p.m., Monday, Aug. 15, from the sanctuary of Pine Hill Baptist Church of Olla with the Revs. Ed Smith and Corey Fowler officiating. Interment followed in the Olla Cemetery under direction of Riser Funeral Home of Olla. She was preceded in death by her parents and by her son, Rodney Taylor, and by her grandson, Brandon Taylor. Survivors include her son, John Stott (Kim); her daughters, Tena Taylor Smith (Curtis), Vanessa Taylor Meziel (Jack), and Debra Owings and (Dave); step-daughters, Louise Exline (Connie Mac) and Clarice “Toni” Stott; step-son, Michael Stott; her brother, Jim Fish (Frances); and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.

Reagen M. Rainey

Reagen M. Rainey, 19, of Jonesville, passed from this life on Tuesday, October 4, 2016, from injuries sustained in an accident on LA 124 north of Harrisonburg. Reagan graduated with the Class of 2016 from Harrisonburg High School last May. She was attending Delta Community College majoring in early childhood development. Services were held at 2 p.m., Friday, Oct. 7, at Sandy Lake Pentecostal Church in the Sandy Lake Community in Catahoula Parish, with the Revs. Mark Johnson, and Joel Ford officiating. Interment followed in the Heard Cemetery near Manifest under direction of Magnolia Funeral Home of Alexandria. Survivors include her mother, Melinda Deann Rainey; father, William Sharp; mawmaw, Rajean Rainey; pawpaw, Barry Rainey; nonni, Rosa Rainey; paternal grandparents, David and Betty Sharp; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and many friends who loved her very much.

Ella Inez Fortson

Ella Inez Fortson, 95, of Jena, passed away on Saturday, October 8, 2016, at the LaSalle Nursing Home of Jena. She was born January 10, 1921 to the union of her parents, Lloyd W. Jones and Hattie Durham Jones. Mrs. Fortson was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Jena and a member of the Green Thumb Garden Club. She and her late husband, Allen Fortson, Jr., were owners and operators of Fortson Hardware in Jena for many years. She loved her friends and family. Services were held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, Oct. 11, in the chapel of Kinner and Stevens Funeral Home of Jena with the Revs. Dominick DiCarlo and Terry Townsend officiating. Interment followed in the Nolley Memorial Church Cemetery in Jena under direction of Kinner and Stevens, Inc. of Jena. She was preceded in death by her husband, Allen J. Fortson, Jr.; son, Allen J. Fortson, III; daughter-in-law, Catherine Crawford Fortson; sister, Irene Jones Moore; brother, Joel P. “Sonny” Jones and her parents.
