Charles Boyette

Charles Boyette, 76, of the Walters Community, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, March 10, 2016, in Jena. He was born Monday, March 13, 1939 in Sicily Island to the union of his parents, James Quitman and Anna Penniston Miles Boyette. Charles was a veteran of the United States Air Force and worked for the federal government for 42 years. He served faithfully at the Jena Post Office before retiring. He was a 32nd degree Shriner and member of the Michael Dempsey Lodge #327 F&AM in Jena. Services were held at 2 p.m., Sunday, March 13, at Prosperity Baptist Church at Walters with the Revs. Tommy Sanson and Larry Whittington officiating. Interment followed in the Bethel Cemetery at Deville under direction of Kinner and Stevens Funeral Home of Jena. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Reginald Boyette.

Lessie Marie McNaughton

Lessie Marie McNaughton, 79, of Olla, passed from this life on Wednesday, March 9, 2016, at her residence in Olla. She was born February 25, 1937, in Urania to the union of her parents, Bert and Lessie Belle Cader. She was a member of Zion Hill Baptist Church of Olla, and was a devoted Atlanta Braves and Chicago Cubs fan. Services were held at 2 p.m., Friday, March 11, from the chapel of Riser Funeral Home in Olla with Rev. Jesse Henderson officiating. Interment followed at Hebron Cemetery, west of Grayson, under direction of Riser Funeral Home of Olla/Columbia. She was preceded in death by her husband, Alton McNaughton; son, Bobby Ray McNaughton; and daughter, Charlotte Underwood. Survivors include two sons, Kenneth McNaughton and wife Virginia, and Terry McNaughton and wife Barbara, all of Hebert; daughter, Barbara Garcia and husband Mario of Olla; two sisters, Ruby Jackson of Pineville and Mary Klanecky of California; 22 grandchildren, and a host of great-grandchildren.

Dania Inez Hutchins

Dania Inez Hutchins, 55, of Harrisonburg, passed from this life on Tuesday, March 8, 2016, at the University of Arkansas for Medical Science in Little Rock, Arkansas. She was born October 26, 1960 in Jonesville to the union of her parents, Clyde Henry Lewis and Inez Mc-Guffee Lewis. Services were held at 10 a.m., Monday, March 14, at the First Baptist Church of Jonesville with the Revs. Gary Norris and Marion Collier officiating. Interment followed in the Rosefield Cemetery at Rosefield under direction of Young’s Funeral Home of Jonesville. She was preceded in death by her parents and a son, Drew Rodney Hutchins. Survivors include her husband of 36 years, Rodney Hutchins of Harrisonburg; daughter, Lacy Denise Hutchins of Harrisonburg; two brothers, H. C.

Joseph R. Anderson, Jr.

Joseph Robert Anderson, Jr., 67, of Jena, passed from this life on Monday, March 7, 2016, at the Rapides Regional Medical Center in Alexandria. He was born on November 21, 1948 in Hammond. Joe served his country in the United States Marine Corp. Services were held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, March 9, in the chapel of Hixson Brothers Funeral Home of Jena with Rev. Heath Harris officiating. Interment followed in the Taylor Chapel Cemetery at Summerville under direction of Hixson Brothers, Inc. of Jena. He was preceded in death by is father, Joseph Robert Anderson, Sr.; and two sisters, Nancy Elaine Hayes and Martha Faye Robertson. Survivors include his mother, Onessia Cora Cockerham Anderson of Jena; brother, Rev. Charlie Anderson and wife Cathy of Jena; and sister, Bobbie Jean Hinson of Walker; and a host of nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were Cris Anderson, Tyler Anderson, Ricky Arnette, Robert Arnette, Mark Hayes, and Kyle Robertson.

Kenneth “Babs” Young

Kenneth “Babs” Young, 69, of Olla, passed from this life on Wednesday, March 2, 2016, at his residence in Olla. He was born August 17, 1946 in Olla to the union of his parents, Spencer and Lucy Westbrooks Young. Babs proudly served his country in the United States Army for four years and was a member of the Columbia American Legion. He owned and operated Kenneth Young Logging. He loved to hunt and fish. He loved to go four wheeler riding with his grand-daughter Patricia. She was his Punkin. Services were held at 2 p.m., Saturday, March 5, from the chapel of Riser Funeral Home in Columbia with Rev. Ricky Gresham officiating. Interment followed in the Westbrooks-Swilley Cemetery near Olla under direction of Riser Funeral Home of Columbia. He was preceded in death by his wife, Pat Young; his parents; brother, Clyde Young; four sisters, Edith Humble, Alene Coleman, Mae Coleman, and Mavis Howell; and brother-in-law, Charles Howell.

James Edward Womack

James Edward Womack, 71, a Winn Parish native, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, March 2, 2016, following a brief courageous battle with cancer, while surrounded by family and friends. He was born December 14, 1944 to the union of his parents, E. C. and Mary Belle Womack. James was a retired truck driver and a United States Navy veteran with two tours of Vietnam. He enjoyed working with his cows, working hay fields, enjoying a good meal, visiting and talking “truck” especially Emeryville models. Services were held at 2 p.m., Friday, March 4, at the Jordan Hill United Pentecostal Church with the Revs. Gary Wright, Willie Beaubouef, and Brian Montgomery officiating. He was preceded in death by his parents; paternal grandparents, Walter and Belle Womack; maternal grandparents, J.R. “Jim” and Emma Smith; and a great niece, Naomi Taylor Ellis.

Willie Mae Nugent

Willie Mae Nugent, 79, of Holum, passed from this life on Monday, February 29, 2016 at the Rapides Regional Medical Center in Alexandria following a brief illness. Willie Mae Cooper Sikes Nugent was born November 30, 1936 at Holum to the union of her parents, William Thomas Cooper and Bessie Mae Beavers Cooper. She was a retired nurse, loved church singing and playing the upright bass guitar. She also loved sewing and knitting, growing flowers and reading books. She also loved Facebook which allowed her to visit with her family and friends on a daily basis. Services were held at 2 p.m., Thursday March 3, from the Columbia chapel of Riser Funeral Home with the Revs. Boyd Tannehill and Benny Braddock officiating. Interment followed in the Little Star Cemetery at Holum under direction of Riser Funeral Home of Columbia. She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, John Will Sikes; by her son, Tommy G.

Pauline Annette Morris

Pauline Annette (Stanfield) Morris, 79, of Jonesville, was received into Heaven on Monday, February 29, 2016. She was born on Friday, November 6, 1936 in Springhill, Louisiana, to the union of her parents, N. G. “Bo” Stanfield and Nettie (Heron) Stanfield. A memorial service was held at graveside on Saturday, March 5 at 2 p.m., in the Belah Cemetery in the Belah-Fellowship Community with Rev. Kevin Manuel officiating. Interment followed under direction of Kinner and Stevens Funeral Home of Jena. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ben Frank Morris; a son, Ben M. “Bubba” Morris; her parents; two brothers, Charlie Stanfield and Herbert Stanfield; and three sisters, Irene Rogers, Inez Sawyer and Ionia Bell Terral.

Margaret H. Lamb

Margaret H. Lamb, 85, of Sharptown, passed from this life on Wednesday, March 2, 2016, at the LaSalle Nursing Home of Jena. She was born November 5, 1930 in Sharptown to the union of her parents, White and Ada Hudnall. Mrs. Lamb worked for the Justiss family for 30 years and also sat up with family and friends who were ill. Services were held at 11 a.m., Friday, March 4, at Cross Roads Baptist Church of Sharptown with the Revs. Joey Bignar, Johnnie Phillips, and Tony Wilson officiating. Interment followed in the Tidwell Landing Cemetery under direction of Hixson Brothers Funeral Home of Jena. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Lamb; parents; sister, Ruth Albritton; and niece, Rytha Hudnall.

Martha Lorene Hayes

Martha Lorene Hayes, 86, of Jena, passed from this life on Sunday, March 6, 2016. She was born November 18, 1929 in Bristoe, Oklahoma, to the union of her parents, William and Bertha Hill Dobson. Mrs. Hayes was self-employed with H. L. Mop and Broom Company. Services were held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, March 8, in the chapel of Hixson Brothers Funeral Home of Jena with Rev. Mike Russell officiating. Interment followed in the Harris Chapel Cemetery near Olla under direction of Hixson Brothers, Inc. of Jena. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, H. L. ‘Luther’ Hayes; and nine brothers and sisters. Survivors include two daughters, Suzy Windham of Jena, and Phyllis Rozelle of Ruby; one son, Bobby Randolph of Tampa, FL; brother, Donald Dobson of Sandsprings, OK; 11 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren. Pallbearers were deacons of Trinity Baptist Church, with grandsons serving as honorary pallbearers.
