Thomas “Tinker” Sanson

Thomas “Tinker” Gerald Sanson, 75, of Walters, was received into Heaven on Sunday, August 10, 2014. He was born Sunday, August 28, 1938, in Alexandria, to the union of his parents, David Edward, Sr. and Susan Emmaline Johnson Sanson. Tinker was a retired Baptist minister, also a Free Methodist minister, and was employed by the LaSalle Parish Police Jury for 21 years, retiring as Superintendent. Services were held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Aug. 13, in the Prosperity Baptist Church with Rev. Thomas “Tommy” Sanson, Jr. officiating. Interment followed in the Woodland Cemetery near Jena under direction of Kinner and Stevens Funeral Home of Jena. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister, Bettye C. Sanson Crooks.

Carrie Lea Herron Charrier

Carrie Lea Herron Charrier, 87, of Jonesville, passed from this life on Saturday, August 16, 2014, at The Columns Nursing Home in Jonesville. She was born Monday, December 20, 1926. Mrs. Charrier was a resident of Jonesville and member of the First Pentecostal Church of Jonesville. Services were held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 19, at First Pentecostal Church of Jonesville with Rev. Jack Knapp officiating. Interment followed in the Heard Cemetery of Manifest under direction of Young’s Funeral Home of Jonesville. Survivors include one daughter, Marlene Charrier Gaspard and husband David of Jonesville; one brother, William “Bill” Scott Herron of Jonesville; grandchildren, Kenny Charrier and wife Brandi, Cassandra Gaspard Poole and husband Gary, Bradley Austin Gaspard and wife Ciara, and David Marrell Gaspard; great grandchildren, Jessica Charrier Watts, Marissa Poole, Joel Poole, Jacob Charrier, Megan Gaspard, Carson Gaspard and Bryson Gaspard; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Joseph Ned LeBlanc

Joseph Ned LeBlanc, 78, of Rhinehart, passed from this life on Monday, August 11, 2014, at his residence in Rhinehart. He was born on November 19, 1935 in Delcambre, to the union of his parents, Joseph Odey and Emilia Landry LeBlanc. Joseph worked as a derrick hand in the oilfield. Graveside services were held at 2 p.m., Friday, August 15, at Pine Grove Cemetery in Rhinehart with Rev. Terry Doughty officiating. Interment followed under direction of Hixson Brothers Funeral Home of Jena.

Charles Cochran Wilson

Charles Cochran Wilson, 67, of the Lincecum Community near Pollock, passed from this life on Saturday, August 16, 2014, at his residence. He was born December 5, 1946 in Memphis, Tennessee, to the union of his parents, Charles Otis and Elizabeth Shelton Wilson. Mr. Wilson was formerly of Memphis, but had lived in the Lincecum Community for the past eight years. He was a retired salesman in the medical supply business with 30 years of service, a member of Lincecum Baptist Church, and served his country in the National Guard. Services were held at 11 a.m., Monday, Aug. 18, at Lincecum Baptist Church near Pollock with Rev. Jim Winegeart officiating. Interment followed in the Lincecum Cemetery under direction of Hixson Brothers Funeral Home of Jena. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Allen Wilson.

Gloria Jean Smith

Gloria Jean Smith, 72, of Trout, passed from this life on Friday, August 15, 2014, in Alexandria. She was born January 11, 1942 in Provencal to the union of her parents, Wilma Faye and Lola Mae Foster Haley. Mrs. Smith was a homemaker, and a loving mother, grandmother and sister. Services were held at 11 a.m., Sunday, Aug. 17, in the chapel of Hixson Brothers Funeral Home of Jena with Rev. Tommy Haley officiating. Interment followed in Hurricane Creek Cemetery under direction of Hixson Brothers, Inc. of Jena. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Tom Smith, Sr.; parents; a son, Roger Allen Smith; and a sister, Cleta Faye Ray. Survivors include three sons, Raymond Lee Matthews, Robert Ed Smith, and John Tom Smith, Jr.; three daughters, Kathy Ann Roberts, Kimberly Kay Smith, and Karen Elizabeth McGuffee; brother, Tommy “T.E.” Haley; three sisters, Mona Summers, Wilma Bradberry, and Lola Mae Brasher; 17 grandchildren, and 19 great grandchildren.

Mike Haynes, 61, of Grayson, passed from this life on Monday, August 4, 2014, at Willis Knighten Medical Center in Bossier following a brief illness. He was born June 20, 1953 in Columbia to the union of his parents, Shepp
and Willian Haynes. Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 16, at Old Bethel Baptist Church, west of Clarks, with Rev. Eddie Riley officiating.  Arrangements are under direction of Riser Funeral Home of Columbia. Survivors include his wife of 27½-years, Barbara Gladen Haynes of Grayson; one daughter, Kristy Jones and  husband Darnell of Morgan City; step-son, Erik Schultz and wife Amy of Olla; step-daughter, Kim Sanders and husband Alan of Urania; mother, Willian Haynes; three sisters, Liz Scroggins, Peggy Cupstead, and Helen Poole; six grandchildren, Ashley Sanders, Tyler Schultz, Kayla Jones, Austin Schultz, Amya Jones, and Emma Schultz; a host of nieces and nephews; and a dedicated friend, Billy Franklin.

Margarete Beatrice “Bea” Kratoville, 95, of Alvin, Texas, passed from this life on Friday, August 8, 2014. She was born May 15, 1919 in Tullos to the union of her parents, W. Barbara Jean Childress, 74, of Olla, passed from this life on Saturday, August 2, 2104, at her residence. She was born December 11, 1939 in Monroe to her parents, Auda Hillman and Mary Lee Atkinson Meador. She was a homemaker, a loving mother, grandmother and sister that will be deeply missed by those that knew and loved her.
