High school football season is officially here; Tigers ready

By Greg Jones

The Tigers of LaSalle High School officially opened the 2015 football season with the LaSalle Parish Jamboree. This Jamboree consists of the two LaSalle parish Junior High Schools and the two High Schools. This Jamboree usually packs the house  with friends and kinfolk from across the parish talking smack about which team is going to have a better year. The weather for this contest was excellent and the stands were full of cheering fans. All four teams are to be commended on their sportsmanship throughout this jamboree. These four teams  played two halves of football and no unsportsmanlike penalties were called on any of the teams.

Jena Giants shutout Tigers 22-0 in LaSalle Jamboree

By Austin Whatley

The LaSalle Tigers traveled to Jena this past Friday to take on the Jena Giants in the annual LaSalle Parish Jamboree. This rivalry is always a great way to start the high school football season as both teams fans pack the stadium and make a great atmosphere. This year would be no different as the stadium was packed with one of the largest crowds to ever attend this rivalry. Both  teams participated in scrimmages in the previous week but this would be the first official game action for each team. There are high expectations for both teams as they wanted to get the year started off right.

Jena High Giants excited to start new season with new look district

By Austin Whatley After a long offseason of practicing and working in the weight room the Jena Giants are excited to finally get on the field and show that all of their hard work has paid off.Last season the Giants made  the playoffs for the second season in a row after a 6-4 regular season. The Giants season came to an end in the first round of the playoffs on he road at Mansfield. The Giants come into this season with the goal of not only making the playoffs but winning games in the playoffs. The Giants return a umber of starters from last year’s team with a big group of seniors. The biggest question mark coming into the season is who can replace record reaking running back Charlie Smith who was lost to  graduation.
