Jena Giant Jermarcus Hammock (4) lunges to catch the pass for a touchdown during the Jena vs. Menard away game last week.
By Greg Jones The weather was perfect and the stands were packed for what was about to be a great high school football game. Jena won the toss and deferred the kickoff to the second half. Menard took possession of the initial kickoff and could only manage 5 plays before they were forced to punt by the Jena defense. On the ensuing kickoff Jena could only manage one play before John Leglue, senior lineman, recovered a fumble and ran 17 yards for the touchdown. The extra point attempt was no good and Menard led early 6-0.
