Kathryn Doughty Breithaupt

Kathryn Doughty Breithaupt, 86, of Alexandria, passed away Thursday, February 6, 2014, at Grace Home in Alexandria at Christus St. Frances Cabrini Hospital. She was born February 17, 1927 in Jena to the union of her parents, Luther Ray “Pete” and Gertrude Summerlin Doughty. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church since 1959, a graduate of NSU in Natchitoches, and a retired teacher having taught in Jena and at Brame Junior High School and also at Pinecrest State School. She was a member of Pinecrest Parents Association and Alpha Delta Kappa Honorary Society. Services were held at 2 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 9, in the chapel of Hixson Brothers
Funeral Home of Jena with Rev. David Boothe officiating. Interment followed in the Nolley United Methodist Church Cemetery in Jena under direction of Hixson Brothers, Inc. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter  Holmes Breithaupt; son, Hugh Walter Breithaupt; parents, Luther Ray and Gertrude Summerlin Doughty; and brother, Luther Ray Doughty, Jr.  Those left to cherish her memory include her son, Jack L. Breithaupt and wife,
Ginger of Jena; daughter, Nanette Breithaupt Garrison and husband, John; sister, Rita Doughty Thompson and husband, Ray; grandchildren, Walter Evan Breithaupt, Nicholas Holmes Garrison, Kate Garrison King and her husband, Stephen, Sydney Garrison; great grandchild, Elijah Holmes Breithaupt. Pallbearers were Jefferson R. Thompson, I. Frank Genzer, Charles E. Williams, Charles H. Munsterman, Dee Lloyd and Thomas Marcotte.
