Bennie Francis Caswell

Bennie Francis Caswell, 85, of Jena, passed from this life on Wednesday, February 12, 2014, at the Jena Nursing and Rehab Center in Jena. She was born March 25, 1928 in Jena to the union of her parents, Benjamin Franklin and Virginia Holly Young. Mrs. Caswell was a homemaker, member of the Oak Ridge Baptist Church for 40 years where she served as church secretary and taught Sunday school. She owned and operated a restaurant in South Louisiana before moving to Jena in 1967. Services were held at 10 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 15, in the chapel of Hixson Brothers Funeral Home of Jena with the Rev. Mike Boyd officiating. Interment followed in the Woodland Cemetery, east of Jena, under direction of Hixson Brothers, Inc. of Jena. She was preceded in death by her parents, and a grandson, Scott Freeman. Survivors include her husband, Fred Caswell of Jena; daughter, Janelle Jackson of Robeline; two grandchildren, Michael Chandler Boyd, II, of Jena, and Jonathan Thronson of Gulf Shores, AL; three great grandchildren, Sam Freeman, Brendan Freeman and Peyton Michael Boyd; two great great grandchildren, Sammie Freeman and Aerianne Freeman; and her church family. Pallbearers were Michael Boyd, Michael Boyd, II, Maury W. Jackson, Lonnie Griffin, Ralton Griffin, and Marcus Daniel Boyd.
