Carrie Eloyse Roark Bryan

Carrie Eloyse Roark Bryan, 92, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, May 31, 2014, in Beaumont, Texas. She was born June 7, 1921 in Olla to the union of Clarence and Ella Roark. Mrs. Bryan had recently  moved to Beaumont after residing in Groves, Texas, for many years and was a longtime member of Port Arthur First Chuch of the Nazarene. “Granda”, as she was known by so many, graduated from Jena High School  in 1940. She had a deep love for her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren, and enjoyed spending time with them. She had a passion for writing and penned many stories of her childhood and family through the years. Her quick wit will be missed by family and friends. Services were held at 1 p.m., Thursday, June 5, at the Aimoch Baptist Church in the Aimoch Community with Rev. Todd Whittington officiating. Interment followed in the Aimoch Baptist Church cemetery under direction of Hixson Brothers Funeral Home of Jena. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband,  W. I. Br yan; grandson, Jimmy Paul Landry; siblings, Elsie Ainsworth, Nettie Ainsworth, Ima Dee Ainsworth, Eunice Roark, and Ohmar Roark. Survivors include her daughter, Helen Bryan Landry and husband Jim of Beaumont, TX; two grandsons, Tim Landry and wife Jean of Groves, TX, and Hoby Landry of Beaumont, TX; two great granddaughters, Blair Landry and Brittyn Landry, both of Groves, TX; one great grandson, Baylor Landry of Groves, TX; and a sister, Etheree Poole of Jena. Pallbearers were Jim Landry, Tim Landry, Leavon Ainsworth, Travis Ainsworth, Lanny Poole, Chris Windham, and Kenneth Roark.
