Francine Sainlez Cummings, 89, passed from this life and met her savior Jesus Christ on Tuesday, July 8, 2014. She was born March 29,  1925 in Dinant, Belgium, to the union of Henry Joseph Sainlez and Lea Bessems
Sainlez. Francine served in the American Red Cross in Leige,  Belgium, during World War II. During that time, she met her loving husband, Howard Cummings, while he was awaiting deployment back to the states after serving two years in the European Theater. As a couple, they dated by U. S. mail for two years at which time she accepted his  proposal of marriage. Francine arrived in the United States on June 5, 1947, and was married to Howard on June 6, 1947. Services were held at 2 p.m., Saturday, July 12, from  the chapel of Riser Funeral Home in Columbia with Richard Gesser and Charles Vaughn officiating. Interment followed in the Harris Chapel Cemetery, located five miles east of Olla, under direction of Riser Funeral Home of Columbia.  She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 55 years, Howard L. Cummings; and a brother, Gilbert Sainlez of Kelly. Survivors include two sisters, Jeannine Collard and Anna Marie Fontaine; one brother, George Sainlez, all of  Leige, Belgium; six children, John M. Cummings of Kelly, Jacques H. Cummings of West Monroe, Danny A. Cummings of Kelly, David P. Cummings and wife Cecile of Grayson; Shirley A. Andrews and husband  Charles of Calhoun, and Mark D. Cummings of Stockbridge, GA, and fiancé, Laura Nunley of McDonough, GA; nine grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Her children served as pallbearers
