Jena High Powerlifters and sisters Senior Bryttanye Erwin and Freshman Madison Erwin achieved national rankings in powerlifting recently at the USAPL High School National in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Bryttanye received a bronze medal for her third place ranking in the nation’s 132lb class and Madison was named ninth in the nation in the 123lb class. The Erwins qualified at one of the national qualifying meets to earn their place to compete at the national level. “I’m so proud of Madison and Bryttanye for all of their accomplishments at Nationals. Both girls are blessed to have great parents, Ellis and Stacye Erwin,” JHS Girls Powerlifting Coach Rae Lindsey said. “The girls’ father, Ellis, has been a huge impact on their success and has personally trained and coached his daughters. I would like to thank Ellis for all of his efforts in preparing his girls. I have coached and watched Bryttanye compete for four years and she has had an incredible high school career and will continue lifting in college. Good luck Bryttanye! Your coach and team love you and wish you well! And I am so glad Madison will return to lift with us next year! The future of JHS girls’ powerlifting is shining brighter and brighter.”
