Oilfield slowdown beginning to effect jobless rate in state

The slowdown in the oilfield industry is beginning to have an effect on the unemployment rate in Louisiana as can be noted by the latest jobless figures released by the Louisiana Workforce Commission. LaSalle Parish, which had been running among the top five lowest jobless parishes in the state, dropped to number 7 in January. LaSalle’s jobless rate was reported at 6.0 percent, up from 5.0 percent in December.
