Officials in Olla discuss garbage pickup problems

Olla Mayor Rhonda Elliott addressed issues involving town garbage pick-up with the Council at their regular meeting last week. She said that the town’s garbage pickup contract is set to expire on June 1, 2016. She informed the Council that advertising for bids is set to begin on March 16 and will continue through noon on April 12, then the sealed bids will be opened and the Council will make its recommendations. Discussion then ensued between the Mayor, Town Superintendent Henry Ross and Council member Al Cassels regarding the garbage trucks with their heavy load tearing up the roads and cutting too short on turning and tearing up culverts and ditches.
