Joel Sims was appointed by the Olla Town Council to fill a vacancy on the council created by the recent resignation of Alderman Al Cassels. As Mayor Rhonda Elliott introduced Sims, she expressed her appreciation to Cassels for his service to the community as a member of the council.

Town Attorney Walter E. Dorroh, Jr. administered the oath of office to Sims before he took his seat at the council table. Sims will serve until the next election. All town officials are up for re-election in the fall of 2018.
