James Wilburn Sumrall, Sr., 86, of Tullos, passed from this life on Monday, October 2, 2017, at Hardtner Medical Center in Urania.

He was born October 1, 1931 in Sicily Island to the union of his parents, Silvanus and Mini Nugent Sumrall.

Mr. Sumrall was retired from the oilfield industry, working as a switcher for Atkins Well Service.

Services were held at 1 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 5, at First Baptist Church in Tullos with the Revs. Tommy Hollis and Scott Smith officiating.

Interment followed in the New Union Cemetery, north of Tullos, under direction of Hixson Brothers Funeral Home of Jena.

He was preceded in death by parents; daughter, Sharon Sumrall; brother, Clarmen Sumrall; and sisters, Lilly Mae Deville, Irene Allbritton and Evelyn Ruth Lincecum.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Wanda Powell Sumrall of Tullos; sons, James Leroy Woodard and wife Doreatha of Tullos, Jeffery Otis Woodard of Elmer and James Sumrall, II and wife Tonya of Tullos; daughters, Renee Banes of Tullos, and Irene W. Butcher and husband Jason of Greenwood, IN; sister, Lottie Jordan of Little Rock, AR; 12 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Allen Sanders, Monty Atkins, Kenny Cox, Chad McCartney, Mark Olden, Logan Banes, Steven Laszlo and Ben Banes.
