Carl N. Craig

Carl N. Craig, 87, of the Belah community, passed from this life on Monday, November 6, 2017, at his residence. He was born February 20, 1930 in Kolin to the union of his parents, John and Valerie Jones Craig. Carl was a U.S. Army veteran having served in the Korean War. He was employed at Hunt Petroleum for 33 years and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He had a love of baseball and coached Dixie Youth teams for many years. He also loved to cook. He was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church. He is preceded in death by his parents as well as brothers and sisters: Bo Craig, Bud Craig, Clara Grassley, Mellie Thornhill, Georgie Cosenza, Norma Peart, Bertie McKay and Dorthy Bryant. He is survived by his wife of 64-years, Louise Nalley Craig; three children, Allen Craig and wife Norma, Greg Craig and wife Val, and Linda Walker and husband Mike, all of the Belah community; a sister, Callie Voorhies of Kolin; nine grandchildren, Travis Craig, Virginia Craig, Amy Cooksey, Katelyn Lanier, Courtney Wiley, Craig Walker, Jacob Poma, Jared Poma and Stephen Foreman; 11 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews. Services were held at 1 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 7 in the chapel of Hixson Brothers Funeral Home of Jena with Revs. Carl Gulde and Mike Devillier officiating. Interment followed in the Belah Cemetery in the Belah Community under direction of Hixson Brothers, Inc. of Jena. Pallbearers were Travis Craig, Stephen Foreman, Bill Wiley, Clint Cooksey, Keith Bordelon and Craig Walker. Honorary pallbearers were Sam Gulde, Ronnie Kendrick, Glenn Ganey, Daryl Valentine, Lonnie Allen, Hig Hailey and Clyde Crooks.
