Jena Mayor LaDawn Edwards signs a proclamation proclaiming Veterans Day, November 11, 2017, as “Buddy Poppy Day” in the Town of Jena. On hand for the signing ceremony was Jena Town Clerk Cory Floyd, Jena Chief of Police Scott McLendon, Mayor Edwards and Verna Appleby, representing the Ladies Auxiliary of Whatley-Flaherty Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5002 in Jena.

The purpose of the annual Buddy Poppy Day by the VFW is eloquently reflected in the desire to “Honor the Dead by Helping the Living.”
