LaSalle Parish voters went to the polls last Saturday and helped elect Republican John Schroder as the next state treasurer and gave an overwhelming vote of approval for renewal of a 10.65-mills property tax to continue to provide garbage collection and disposal in the parish.

Turning out just under 15-percent strong, LaSalle voters gave Schroder a convincing majority of the votes cast, 1,135 votes or 88%, compared to 161 votes, or 12% for challenger Democrat Derrick Edwards.
