LaSalle High Senior Daniel Wesson recently represented the LHS Band in the Louisiana Music Educators’ Association (LMEA) All-State Concert Band with a performance at the LMEA Professional Development Conference in Baton Rouge. He is the first student to represent LHS in the All-State Band in a decade. The concert was held on November 20 with Wesson playing the tuba. The conductor was Alfred Watkins.

Wesson passed two rounds of auditions to earn a seat in the elite group. The first round was held at West Ouachita High School on September 30. There, Wesson earned the top slot on tuba competing against students from other schools in the sixteen-parish district, which qualified him for statewide competition in Pineville on October 14. The auditions consisted of playing all twelve major scales, two advanced etudes and sight reading.
