Okay, so it’s that time of year for the cheesy TV Christmas movies – and this writer knows that most of you watch them so don’t try to deny it. (ha) I’ll admit I don’t really watch them, but there are a few favorites that I have from years past – one released from the Hallmark Channel in 2011, “A Princess for Christmas,” starring Katie McGrath, Sam Heughan and Sir Roger Moore and, of course, centers on falling in love with a prince.

I watched the film recently and naturally enjoyed every second of it. And it got me thinking about our overall fascination with royalty from the popularity of TV programs such as Downton Abbey and The Crown to films such as The Queen and The Prince & Me. But in the news as of late something else comes to mind – the recent engagement of the United Kingdom’s Prince Harry with American actress Meghan Markle.
