Property taxes for the parish and various towns were due by Friday, Dec. 29th, the last business day of the year. Tax statements for year 2017 went out in the mail in late-October. Normally, taxes are due on Dec. 31st, but since this day falls on Sunday, the taxes were due two days earlier.

Although taxes are due by the end of the year, taxpayers are granted a grace period with no interest if they are paid before Jan. 31. After that date, the taxes bear monthly interest of 1-percent per month until paid.
