Edmond Hilliard “Bubba” Carriere, 62, of Oakland, Tennessee, and a native of Jena, passed from th

Betty Ruth Smith, 85, of Winnfield, passed away on Tuesday, January 2, 2018.

She was born Saturday, July 23, 1932 in Jena, to the union of her parents, Roy L. and Viva Taylor Roark.

Mrs. Smith was a homemaker and enjoyed crafting, embroidery, and sewing.

Services were held at 11 a.m., Friday, Jan. 5, at Corinth Baptist Church with the Revs. David Womack, Donnie Wise, and Yancy Martin officiating.

Interment followed in Squires Cemetery near Summerville under direction of Southern Funeral Home of Winnfield.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Meredith Smith; sister, Vera Smith; grandson, Raymand Lee Normand, Jr.; son-in-law, Raymand Lee Normand, Sr.; and nephews, Elbert McAllister and Rodney Smith.

Those left to cherish her memory include her daughters, Sandra Normand Hansen (Ken) of Bossier City, Judy McAllister (Jimmy), Winnfield, and Melinda Stewart (Bo), Jonesboro; son, Curtis Smith (Carolyn), Jonesville; brothers, Dale Roark (Karen), NC, and Dwain Roark (Terrie), Cave City, AR; nine grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were Josh Shelton, Austin Shelton, Tyler Short, Danny McAllister, Jason McAllister, Huey McAllister, Robert McAllister, and Steve Cockerham.

Honorary pallbearers were Ryan Paulk, Gleen Shelton, Jimmy McAllister, Joey Short, and Bo Stewart.
