Emmitt Drewitt Taylor, Sr., 90, of Jonesville and a native of LaSalle Parish, passed from this life on Thursday, January 4, 2018, in Jonesville.

He was born Friday, May 13, 1927 in LaSalle Parish to the union of his parents, Needham Brantley and Bertha Graham Taylor.

Mr. Taylor was a member of First Baptist Church of Jonesville, and had retired from farming and was owner and operator of Jonesville Cotton Gin.

He proudly served his country in the United States Army during World War II.

Services were held at 2 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 7, at First Baptist Church of Jonesville with the Revs. Gary Norris and Lloyd Trisler officiating.

Interment followed in the Graham Cemetery at Nebo under direction of Young’s Funeral Home of Jonesville.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Verdya Taylor Wiley; four brothers, N. B. Taylor, Jr., Arthur Taylor, Jimmy Taylor, and Eddie Taylor; and two infant children.

He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Doris Evans of Jonesville; two sons, Drewitt Taylor and wife Debbie of Manifest, and Mark Taylor and wife Patti of Jonesville; four grandsons, Drew, Dusty, Justin and Brantley Taylor; four great grandchildren, Denton, Preston, Ada and Nolan Taylor; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were Ronnie King, Les McCartney, Mike Davis, Jimmy Holland, Matt Taylor, Jason Taylor, Justin Taylor and Brantley Taylor.

Honorary pallbearers were Conley Manning and the Deacons of Jonesville First Baptist Church.
