Alton L. Nichols, 83, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, July 10, 2018.

Velma Anglin Newsom, 91, formerly of Trout, went to be with her Lord on Tuesday, January 2, 2018, at her home in Huntsville, Alabama.

She was born February 13, 1926 in Jena, to the union of Susco and Ophelia Whatley Anglin, and had lived in Huntsville since 1998.

She was a devoted Christian of the Baptist faith and was a former member of the Bethany Baptist Church in Huntsville.

Services were held at 10 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 6, in the chapel of Hixson Brothers Funeral Home of Jena with Fellowship Baptist Church Pastor Michael Devillier officiating.

Interment followed in the Roberts Cemetery in Kelly under direction of Hixson Brothers, Inc. of Jena.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Etheledge Newsom; her brothers, Robert Anglin, Loys Anglin and A.C. Anglin; her sister, Lillian Anglin White; and her son, Dennis Wayne Gough.

Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Carol Darlene Gough Ramaker; her son, Max Eldon Gough (Portial); granddaughters, Cindy Daniel, Jodi York, Leslie Teplin, Corki Ramaker and Julia Ledesma; her grandsons, Travis Gough, Richard Gough and Charles Gough; step daughters, Betty Jean Newsom Worley, Linda Sue Newsom All, Donna Rosemary Newson McLendon; stepson, Robert Jeffery Newsom, as well as several great grandchildren.
