Jacky DeFrance King

Jacky DeFrance King, 84, of Olla, passed from this life on Thursday, February 8, 2018, at the Jena Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Jena, following an extended illness. He was born May 31, 1933 in Winn Parish to the union of his parents, Samuel De- France King and Clara Lee Jenkins King. Jacky served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. In high school, Jacky was a star baseball pitcher for Olla Standard High School in 1949 and at LaSalle High School in 1951. Both of these years, Jacky led his teams to State Championships. He was a member of the Pine Hill Baptist Church. Services were held at 2 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 11, from the chapel of Riser Funeral Home in Olla. Interment followed in the Beech Creek Cemetery, west of Olla in Winn Parish, under direction of Riser Funeral Home of Olla. He was preceded in death by his wife, Pat Gough King; his parents; and his brother, Sammy Joe King. Survivors include two brothers, Donald King and Jimmy King, both of Olla; four nephews, Joey King, Jay King, James King and Darrell Young; and a niece, Janelle Harlan. Pallbearers were Joey King, Jay King, Robert Hamilton, Tony Franklin, Eddie Coolman and Michael Taylor.
