Officials from Drax Biomass, owner and operator of LaSalle BioEnergy pellet plant at Urania, spoke to LaSalle stakeholders during the annual “A Greater La- Salle Luncheon” hosted by the LaSalle Economic Development District (LEDD) last Wednesday.

Those in attendance for the annual LEDD luncheon included parish wide elected officials, members of the LaSalle Parish Police Jury and School Board, officials from the four towns in the parish, members of LEDD, as well as numerous business leaders and other stakeholders in the parish. LaSalle BioEnergy, located in Urania, was built in 2015 and purchased by Drax in April 2017. This 285-acre wood pellet manufacturing facility employs 78 employees and can produce 450,000 metric tons of wood pellets per year. In November 2017, LaSalle BioEnergy began start up production
