Jim Leonard Ray

Jim Leonard Ray, 94, of Jena, passed from this life on Monday, May 7, 2018, at the LaSalle Nursing Home of Jena. He was born November 16, 1923 in Nebo to the union of his parents, John Roy and Cora Paul Ray. Mr. Ray served his country in the United States Army during World War II, and retired from the LaSalle Parish Police Jury as a gravel truck driver. Services were held at 2 p.m., Thursday, May 10, in the chapel of Hixson Brothers Funeral Home of Jena with Rev. Joey Paul officiating. Interment followed in the Nebo Cemetery under direction of Hixson Brothers, Inc. of Jena. He was preceded in death by his wives, Nelda Lou Mitchell and Lea Jane Normand; his parents; brother, Claude Ray; sisters, Dorothy Allen, Ruby Clarkston and Mary Lou Duke. Those left to cherish in his memory include his sons, Ricky Ray and wife Tammy, and Keith Ray and wife, Dena; daughter, Markaye Newman and husband Russell; sister, Myma Horn; six grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Pallbearers were Steven Ray, Jared Ray, Cody Ray, Bo Bigner, Bo Trahan, Rocky Ray, Butch Horn, Chris Newman and Russell Newman. Honorary pallbearers were Lynn Huffman and John Huffman. Memorials may be sent to Trinity Outdoor Disabled Adventures and Guardian Hospice
