Violet Entrekin Smith

Violet Entrekin Smith, 87, of Jena, passed from this life on Friday, June 29, 2018, at the home of her daughter in Jena. She was born September 25, 1930 in Natchez, Mississippi to the union of her parents, Andrew and Ineta Adams Entrekin. Mrs. Violet was an active member of Nebo Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school. She enjoyed being a part of the Pink Ladies, Quilting Grannies, and Lady’s Rook Club. She also volunteered at the Mission House. Services were held at 2 p.m., Sunday, July 1, at Nebo Baptist Church with the Revs. Byron Norris and Stephen Richardson officiating. Interment followed in the Tidwell Landing Cemetery under direction of Hixson Brothers Funeral Home of Jena. She was preceded in death by her husband, Huey P. Smith, Sr; her parents; brothers, W. R. Entrekin and Ben Entrekin; and sister, Bertha McDaniel. Those left to cherish in her memory include her son, Huey Smith, Jr. and Lisia; daughters, Trisha Brian and Kenneth, Jeannie Paul and J.L., and Lisa Smith and Carl; ten grandchildren and twenty great grandchildren, Derek and Sara Brian, Conor, Jeannie Shelton, John-Wesley, Jennifer, J.T., Justin and Kayla Paul, Carley, Cydnee and Charlie, Jennifer and Gregg Edwards, Ross, Cory and Brent Floyd, Braden and Conley, Carl and Sam Smith, Lydia, Luke and Maggie, Richard and Megan Smith, Baby Boy Smith, Erica and Jared Elliott, Dylan, Cadyn, Rylan and Jaxyn, Caleb and Jeannie Smith, Autry and Julianne, Seth and Mallory Smith. Pallbearers were Derek Brian, Justin Paul, Carl Smith, III, Richard Smith, Caleb Smith and Seth Smith. Honorary pallbearers were Gregg Edwards, Brent Floyd, Jared Elliott and her great grandsons.
