The LaSalle Parish Police Jury decided at its regular August meeting held Monday night of last week to join other governing bodies around the state and nation in joint litigation against the manufacturers of opioids.

During the Jury’s June meeting, Attorney Walter May, former district attorney of the Second Judicial District, addressed the jurors on the issue, as did Attorney Mike Staggs of New Orleans.

Both men told jurors at that meeting that police juries throughout the state are being asked to join the joint-litigation aimed at three major drug wholesalers accountable for supplying the majority of opioids in the nation.
