Giants blow out OCS at Bayou Jamb

By Austin Whatley

Jena High School had a great opportunity this past weekend. The Jena Giants football team was invited to the 10th annual Bayou Jamb held on the campus of ULM. Apparently the word has gotten out that the football team is pretty good and that the Giants have some of the best fans in the state of Louisiana.

It was a great experience for the players and fans and it gave the school some great exposure. From Tony Evans and the Booster Club tailgating in the Grove to the pep rally that highlighted the Jena High School Marching Band, Cheerleaders, and Dance Line. Everyone did their part including the Giants fans who bought all of the Giants allotted pre-sale tickets. The only thing left to do was for the Giants football team to put on a show on the field.

The Giants opponent in the Bayou Jamb would be the OCS Eagles which is a private school in Monroe that competes in Division 4.

The Eagles would receive the opening kickoff and would march all the way down to the Jena 11 yard line before turning it over on downs. The Giants offense would come back with a 7-play 89 yard drive ending with a Trelon Jones 17 yard touchdown run to give the Giants a 7-0 lead.
