Work to change the dangerous intersection in Tullos is set to begin this month as state officials recently approved an over $1.5 million contract for the installation of “J-Turns.”

The intersection of US 165 and US 84 in Tullos has long been a serious and often fatal problem for motorists and after more than a year of extensive research, the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development has come up with a solution they think will work.

“This is not what I wanted and it’s certainly not what the people of Tullos wanted, but this is what they are giving us,” District 22 State Representative Terry Brown said late last week. “I wanted an overpass. The people wanted an overpass. But LA Time Managers cut out the overpass to save money.”
