Mary Parker Valentine Taylor, 94, of the Belah Community near Jena, passed from this life on Wednesday, September 12, 2018, at the Willis Knighton Medical Center in Shreveport. She was born November 13, 1923 in Jena to the union of her parents, Rawlins Parker and Rosa Russell. Mrs. Taylor was a lifelong resident of the Belah Community and was a faithful member of the Fellowship Baptist Church. She also enjoyed making quilts with the Quilting Grannies for many years. Services were held at 10 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 15, at Fellowship Baptist Church with the Revs. Bill Robertson, Tom Swain and Rick Feazell officiating. Interment followed in the Belah Cemetery under direction of Hixson Brothers Funeral Home of Jena. She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Audis Valentine; and second husband, Alonzo Taylor. Those left to cherish in her memory include her sons; Donny “Don” Valentine and wife Diane, and Darryl Valentine and wife Annie; daughter; Linda Arnold and husband Billy, all of Belah; sisters, Christine Reeves and Levita Richardson, both of Jena, and Sybil Evans of Belah; ten grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and 15 great-great grandchildren. Pallbearers were Jonas Valentine, Casey Valentine, Spencer Valentine, Trent Boyd, Michael Richard, Jeffrey Arnold, Tyler Grant, Jude Walker and Andrew Sanders.
