Olla and Tullos gets new Chiefs of Police; Olla re-elects Mayor

Voters in Olla and Tullos elected new chiefs of police and voters in Olla decided to keep their present mayor in office for another four years during Tuesday’s election. In an upset in the town of Olla, voters chose Daniel Ray Smith as their new Chief of Police over incumbent John Stott. Smith received 270 votes, or 56%, to 205 votes, or 43% for Stott. A third candidate in the race, Jody O’Bier received 5 votes, or 1%. Another upset was in the town of Tullos where voters chose Scott Cockerham as new Chief of Police over incumbent Gary McDaniel. Cockerham received 74 votes, or 60% to 49 votes, or 40% for McDaniel. Cockerham’s wife, Karla, was elected as new Mayor of Tullos as no one qualified to oppose her in the election.
