Arlice Wilson Atwell

Arlice Wilson Atwell, 80, of Selma, passed from this life on Friday, November 23, 2018 in Alexandria.

He was born February 12, 1938 at Selma to the union of his parents, Willie and Edith Atwell. Arlice was a bright spirited soul and was loved by everyone who knew him. He was a logger in the log woods for many years. He was a dedicated husband, father and grandfather.

Services were held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, Nov. 27, at the Georgetown United Pentecostal Church with Pastor Rev. Donnell Spurgeon officiating.

Interment followed in the Lincecum Cemetery of Georgetown under direction of Kinner and Stevens Funeral Home of Jena.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Janice Lee McCrary; his parents; a brother, Thomas Stanley Atwell; a grandson Jacob Gray; and a brother-in-law, Kenneth Hall.

Those left to cherish his memory and mourn his loss are his wife, Betty Gail Atwell of Georgetown; daughters, Renee Smith and husband Sheldon of Pollock, Dorene Goodman of Shreveport, and Lola Myers of Tioga; sons, Omar Atwell and wife Aurelia of Georgetown, Jeff Atwell and wife Angie of Georgetown, Christopher Gray and wife Rae of Edgewood, MD, and Dalton Gray and wife Connie of Georgetown; two sisters, Mary Lee Hall of Vildalia, and Dale Goodman of Colfax; two brothers, Willie Dee Atwell and wife Annie of Georgetown, and Sammie Atwell and wife Barbara of Natchez MS.

Pallbearers were Johnny Fryar, David Sharp, Joseph (Bud) Brown, Ollie Lee Williams, Jaden Smith, and Justin Rachal, with John Smith serving as an honorary pallbearer.
