Leon Napoleon Dearmon, 95, of Olla, passed from this life on Thursday, November 22, 2018, at the LaSalle General Hospital of Jena.

He was born March 15, 1923 in Sikes to the union of his parents, William Edgar Dearmon and Anna Eliza Dearmon.

Mr. Dearmon was a World War II veteran, having served in the U.S. Army. He was a truck driver on the beaches of Normandy, and fought in Normandy, northern France, and Rhineland Germany. He was part of the 1st Army, 29th Division, 19th Core, and 82nd Combat Engineers.

Mr. Dearmon was inducted into service January 29, 1943. He was honorably discharged on December 3, 1945. He received the Purple Heart, Good Conduct Medal, and the WWII Victims Medal.

Services were held at 2 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 25, in the chapel of Hixson Brothers Funeral Home in Jena with Rev. Charles Howard officiating.

Interment followed in the Harris Chapel Cemetery near Olla under direction of Hixson Brothers, Inc. of Jena.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Myrle Hayes Dearmon; parents; brothers, Jewel Dearmon, Doris Dearmon and Lawrence Dearmon; sisters, Annie Mae Woodward and Lola Deane Chandler; and son, Micheal Dewayne Dearmon.

Those left to cherish in his memory include his two brothers, Richard Eddie Dearmon of Greenwood, LA. and Claude B. Dearmon of Urania; sister, Julia Merle Thornton of Columbia, MS; three grandchildren, Todd Dearmon and wife Lisa, Matthew Dearmon and wife Aimee, and Meagan Dearmon; three great grandchildren, Micheal Layton Dearmon, Charles Brady Dearmon, and KayeLea Rebecca Dearmon; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were Landon Thompson, Rickie Thompson, Jon Thornton, Ron Thornton, Layton Dearmon, and Brady Dearmon.
