Dorothy Jean “Dot” Sanson King, 74, died at the Carpenter House on Sunday, December 2, 2018, in Baton Rouge, after a battle with pancreatic cancer.  

She was born on February 7, 1944, in Ferriday, to the union of her parents, Everett and Lela Sanson.  

Dot graduated from Ferriday High School and later married James Edward King on February 9, 1964.  

Dot was a homemaker and loved being involved in her church.  She served as church hostess and taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School. She enjoyed watching sports, both local and the LSU Tigers.  She volunteered as a band booster and chaperoned many church and school trips with her children.

She was a long-time resident of Olla, but moved to Baton Rouge, in 2005 to live near her children and grandchildren.

Memorial services will be held at noon, Saturday, December 8, at the Evangeline Baptist Church of Wildsville. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m.

She is survived by her daughter and son-inlaw, Rhonda and Dan Sisson of Baton Rouge; her son and daughter-in-law, Lynn and Kelly King of Baton Rouge; and her three grandchildren, Jillian Sisson, Parker King, and Olivia King.  

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Edward King, her parents and her brothers and sisters.

The family requests donations be made to the Carpenter House in Baton Rouge, LA.
