Pearl Harbor victim identified

A 21-year-old sailor from Good Pine in LaSalle Parish was recently identified after being killed when Japanese planes attacked Pearl Harbor 77 years ago this coming Friday, December 7, 1941.

Charles Houston Harris, 21, of Good Pine, a U.S. Navy electrician’s mate 3rd class assigned to the USS Oklahoma grew up in the small community of Good Pine. He was the son of William Henry Harris, Sr. and Mattie Ann Springer Harris of Good Pine.

Reports indicate that his family, which included Harris’ eight brothers and sisters, moved to the community from Missouri between 1910 and 1920.
