LEDD hears sawmill update

The new plant manager of the LaSalle Lumber Company in Urania was the special speaker for the LEDD’s (LaSalle Economic Development District) monthly meeting, held at the Dixie Center in Olla Tuesday night, November 27.

Nick Landi, a native of North Carolina but hired over the summer as the plant manager for the estimated $115-million, state-of-the-art La-Salle Lumber Company, spoke to some 30 people present for the meeting last week providing updates about the plant’s progress and answering questions.

“We should be operational by the end of December with the first logs rolling into our facility by mid-December,” Landi said. “At least the sawmill will be operational and the dry kiln is experiencing a little delay but it should be operational by the end of January or early February.”
